Housekeeping Supervisor 

The Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day operations and supervision of the Housekeeping Department (includes preparing written routines and staff schedules). The primary responsibility is to ensure laundry and housekeeping services are provided to the residents in a consistent, efficient, and friendly manner. General duties include collection, sorting, washing, drying, folding, and distributing linens and personal clothing of residents.

Hours of Work:

Monday- Friday 8:00 am - 4:00 pm

**Up to 2 weekends per month**

Qualifications: 

          • Exhibits a caring, nurturing attitude while demonstrating a true concern for the residents they serve.
          • Able to make responsible choices and decisions while acting in the resident’s best interest.
          • Previous laundry experience, preferably in a retirement home considered an asset.
          • Required to complete orientation and all ORCA and in house training courses.
          • Understand WHMIS and the importance of adhering to best practices with regards to chemicals
          • Requires the ability to balance a task-oriented approach with good interpersonal skills that support the dignity of residents.
          • Aware of Resident Bill of Rights and endeavors to respect and promote positive resident centered relationships.
          • Able to manage priorities and multi-task.
          • Sensitive to the needs of seniors.
          • Excellent organizational and planning skills.
          • Previous use of ADP considered an asset

Responsibilities: 

        • The Housekeeping supervisor ensures that all laundry is processed in an organized and clean manner.
        • Trains, supervises and coaches all housekeeping team members and keeps Assistant General Manager informed on performance or risk issues.
        • Completes laundering of resident linens and personals on a daily basis.
        • Uses chemical supplies according to directions and observes all safety requirements. Familiar with WHMIS
        • Ensures housekeeping staff follow job routines and instructions.
        • Works collaboratively with sales team to ensure suites prepared for move ins, hotel, and respite stays. 
        • Complete regular audits on suites to ensure quality of housekeeping services.
        • Respond to requests and complaints from resident, family, and staff in a timely manner.
        • Maintains inventory for housekeeping team.
        • Adheres to and assists in the Infection Control Program.
        • Flexible with other duties as assigned.
