Van Driver (Part-Time)

Position Summary:
Required to drive residents to scheduled events, outings etc. as needed.

Hours of Work:  5 shifts in a 2-week period. 4 hours per shift. 
Reports to: Recreation Manager 
Driver's License: Requires clean and valid driving license and in some cases willingness to acquire special class license.
Confidentiality: Maintains the confidentiality of information relating to residents, families, all staff, the residence’s operations, financial arrangements and results.

Job Requirements:
  • Good communication skills. 
  • Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills, creativity and high motivation.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate others.
  • Familiarity with community an asset.
  • Familiarity with the Occupational Health and Safety Act Valid driver's license and in some cases, willingness to obtain special class license.
  • Clean driver’s abstract
  • Vulnerable Sector Police Check
  • Experience driving large van or bus. 
  • A sincere interest in the general well-being of the residents.
  • Comfortable working in an institutional setting for seniors.
  • Physically able to push wheelchairs and assist residents on and off the van.
  • First aid training an asset. 

Duties:

1. Drive residents on scheduled outings under the direction of the Recreation Manager.

2. Keep the van clean and in good repair.

3. Keep a log of all trips taken (dates times and number of residents).

4. Take van to required maintenance appointments as scheduled or needed.
